CALA MILLOR STANDS FOR CONTEMPORARY ART

From 25 September to 28 November, the Auditorium sa Maniga in Cala Millor will host an exhibition with renowned artists. Meanwhile work is already underway to make October 2021 a month of contemporary art that attracts thousands of people to Cala Millor.

The Sant Llorenç City Council (through the Cala Millor Tourist Consortium) proposes, in the short and medium term, a cultural offer of contemporary art as a complement to its traditional tourism and as an attractive and different alternative to other tourist areas.

Aware that culture and contemporary art are prestigious and draw the attention of thousands of people, the hotels will offer a shared art exhibition during the month of October 2021. Thus, an itinerary will be formed that will mean that visitors can see good exhibitions within the hotels of the same destination, in addition to being able to enjoy many other offers.

Ultimately, hotels will hold individual artist exhibitions, an idea that breaks with the conventional exhibition scheme. This offers the artist the possibility to show his o her works, not in his or her studio or gallery, but inside a hotel, and turn it into another attraction.

To announce this month of contemporary art next year and due to the impossibility of doing it this year, nothing better than to present a collective exhibition of well-known artists that places Cala Millor in the art world, one which is talked about and that is sufficiently attractive to promote the 2021 show.

Hence the Contemporary Art Show, which can be visited from 25 September to 28 November  2020 at the Auditorium sa Màniga in Cala Millor, curated by Antoni Sansó. With works by authors such as Tàpies, Saura, Rafols Casamada, Hernandez Pijuan, Guinovart, Mompó, Campano, Xavier Grau, Bechtold, Barceló, Plensa, Sicilia, Broto, Susana Solano, Garcia Sevilla, Lamazares, Gordillo, Eva Lootz or Guillem Nadal.
